Sterile Supply Attendant sterilizes, cleans, wraps, stores and distributes supplies, instruments, and equipment used in patient care. Disinfects equipment requiring decontamination or sterilization. Being a Sterile Supply Attendant prepares supplies and equipment for use during patient procedures. Operates autoclaves and other equipment to sterilize instruments and equipment. Additionally, Sterile Supply Attendant inspects and assembles instruments, equipment, trays, and packs. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Sterile Supply Attendant possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. SUMMARY: The Central Sterile Supply Technician coordinates the overall cleaning, decontamination, assembly and dispensing of surgical instruments, equipment and supplies needed for daily surgical procedures in surgery, nursing units, and hospital owned clinics.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: No experience required; entry level position. On the job training program available; willing to train individual with desire and initiative to learn.
Other: Ability to read, write and communicate effectively. Basic computer knowledge required.

Lifts instrument trays up to 25 pounds multiple times during shift using proper body mechanics. Occasionally must wear face shield/mask and work in the presence of washers, decontaminators, Steris units and sterilizers. Must work with a variety of chemicals required in the decontamination and sterilization of instruments and equipment used in surgical cases.
