Student Activities Director directs and oversees the development and organization of the university/college's extra-curricular programs including special events. Sets up social events and has a participatory role in the Greek system, the student government, and student run clubs. Being a Student Activities Director approves funding for various student activities. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Student Activities Director typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Student Activities Director manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Student Activities Director typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     What You'll Do:

     

    As a Director of Therapeutic Recreation / Activities, you will develop and oversee a vibrant and engaging activities program in our communities.  Your creative and compassionate approach will contribute to the overall well-being and happiness of those we serve.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop, implement, and oversee therapeutic recreation programs for residents
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess residents' needs and preferences
    • Provide leadership and guidance to the therapeutic recreation team
    • Organize and facilitate a variety of opportunities for entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and expression while fulfilling residents' basic psychological, social, and spiritual needs
    • Create a warm and inclusive environment that encourages resident participation
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make adjustments as needed
    • Assist the familes of physically, emotionally, and cognitively impaired individuals to explore appropriate hobbies and leisure activities

    What You'll Bring:

     

    Qualifications of a Director of Therapeutic Recreation / Activities:

    • Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field a plus
    • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) credential required
    • Proven experience in developing and leading therapeutic recreation programs
    • Strong organizational and leadership skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
    • Compassion and empathy in working with seniors
    • Interest in the needs of the aged and the chronically ill with the ability to work with both
    • Creative mindset with excellent organizational interpersonal skills
    • Ability to collaborate with team members, residents, and families to create a positive and inclusive environment
