    Job Description: COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES LEADER

    Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt

    Reports to: Operations Manager

    Supervises: None

    SUMMARY

    The Community Activities Leader assists in the planning, procurement, and staffing of community activities and events. This is done in partnership with the Community Activities Committee (CAC), community groups, and management to foster a sense of community. This role also serves as the point person for volunteer opportunities and is responsible for internal communication channels within the cooperative.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Activities support responsibilities
    • Work with management and the CAC to meet goals and objectives
    • Plan, implement, and staff large and small group activities throughout the year in partnership with the committee and as directed by CSCC management.
    • Record inventory of items purchased and uses
    • Oversee events and work with volunteers and paid instructors while hosting activities.
    • Market events to the community through social media, print media, and other channels as directed by the committee and CSCC management.
    • As Volunteer Coordinator, develop long-term relationships throughout the co-op community to grow the volunteer base.
    • Understand the needs of other governance committees in order to actively refer and help fill volunteer positions in the assigned committees.
    • Facilitate effective communication between volunteers and staff to ensure that participants have access to events, meetings, activities, and other information pertinent to their roles and responsibilities.

    • Assess and implement additional social media programs that may enhance resident activities and involvement

    • Contribute, edit, and disperse our online biweekly newsletter, The Spirit
    • Redesign to rejuvenate newsletter as needed

    SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Perform miscellaneous projects and complete various tasks as needed by management or team members.
    • Assist tenants needing immediate support or serve as back-up to other staff members.
    • Maintains storage of activities items in CSCC storage spaces.

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    • Experience working with volunteers.
    • Experience with various social media platforms.
    • Direct customer service experience required.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
    • Experience with interacting and effective communication among a diverse group of stakeholders.
    • Ability to build relationships with diverse groups of people, overcome adversity, and commit to developing a professional sense of cultural competence.
    • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
    • Proficient in all Microsoft programs including word processing (Word) and spreadsheets (Excel) and Google Suite.
    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and relationship building skills to effectively work with a variety of people and personalities, including developing relationships with board members, volunteers, and staff. Able to communicate clearly in person and in writing.
    • Proficient in the use of social media platforms
    • Understand and display high levels of internal and external customer service.
    • Strong general office and organizational skills.
    • Detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines.
    • Able to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised and solve routine problems independently, effectively and creatively.
    • Work as an effective and proactive team-player; understand the importance of supporting members and associates.
    • Applies effective time management skills in order to meet all deadlines. Displays flexibility to meet organization’s unique needs. Works with a proactive, ownership approach to work and operates with a sense of urgency.
    • Understands confidential nature of organization information and maintains confidences.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THIS JOB

    • Hear and speak in order to use the telephone and communicate with people inside and outside the office.
    • Sit at a desk for extended periods of time and perform long hours of work sitting at a computer.
    • Apply manual dexterity and visual acuity for computer keyboarding and office equipment use and light maintenance.
    • Perform physically demanding tasks including climbing stairs and lifting.
    • Visual ability for computer use as well as assisting with events.
    • Physical ability to move around the office area repeatedly throughout the day.
    • Physical ability to move around Company grounds as needed to assist with events, emergencies and operations as needed.

    TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

    Incumbent must be able to use multi-line telephone, calculator, copy machines, computers, and other office equipment.

    Job Type: Part-time

    Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

    Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
