    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    The position is responsible primarily for identifying instances of fraud and investigating fraudulent activities. The position will require examination of data from different platforms and technologies to identify fraudulent activity, with the goal to prevent loss to the member and the institution. The analyst will assist with traditional incidents and cases, including false identifications or fake claims. The position will require assistance in the preparation of internal and external investigations of crimes and alleged crimes against the Credit Union. The position shall be responsible for initiating and coordinating recovery proceedings for identified losses. Duties also include providing support to other departments throughout the Credit Union and for responding to questions and/or provides information upon request from internal and external members.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO: (in descending order of importance)

    1. Analyzes fraud alerts received from credit union software, including Verafin & Fraud Map to prevent and detect potential fraud across all payment channels.
    2. Reviews member accounts and transaction patterns to identify and prevent fraudulent activities by or against members.
    3. Identifies fraud patterns through the monitoring of high-risk countries and merchants.
    4. Conducts interviews with members, employers and witnesses of fraudulent activities.
    5. Communicates with members, cross-functional departments and supervisors to identify and prevent fraudulent activities.
    6. Prepares accurate documentation and formal reports of fraudulent activities, including actions taken. Completes required documentation within assigned platforms; Verafin & Fraud Map.
    7. Demonstrates proficiency using internal security analytics programs monitoring electronic and in-person platforms.
    8. Drafts and revises operational procedures dealing with security and fraud prevention. Provides security training for new staff and refresher training for existing staff.
    9. Operates video surveillance system to secure appropriate segments used for further investigations.
    10. Assumes the duties of the Security Manager and/or Director of Security in their absence.
    11. Performs other security, risk management and administrative duties as assigned by the SVP, Director of Security.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education

    High School diploma or equivalent required. Additional coursework, knowledge or degree in criminal justice or behavioral sciences preferred.

    Experience/Skills/Knowledge:

    1. Previous experience preferred in banking or financial crimes ideally in a credit union environment.
    2. Demonstrated knowledge of local, state and federal criminal laws and civil proceedings required.
    3. Strong verbal, written, telephone and interpersonal communication skills are required. Must have the ability to professionally deal with difficult members and non-members. Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills required.
    4. Ability to conduct presentations and training programs. Ability to handle multiple projects/priorities simultaneously with an effective outcome.
    5. Ability to deal with highly confidential information. Must possess strong service orientation skills in alignment with the credit union's mission and core values.
    6. PC proficient, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and the Internet. Working knowledge of item processing from branch through the Federal Reserve Bank and an understanding of ChexSystems is required. Must master use of internal systems used to research transactions and locate check items, processing of wires, debit cards and statements for investigation purposes.
    7. Must be willing to work during non-standard business hours to protect Credit Union interests and be highly responsive to inquiries during business hours.
    8. Working knowledge of the eServices, ATM, Collections and Loan Areas to understand the appropriate risks is required.
    9. Ability to function in a commercial office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: fax, copier, telephone, etc. Some travel to branches may be required. Ability to lift a minimum of 25lbs. e.g. file boxes.
