Systems Engineering Director oversees the department responsible for the planning and engineering of an organization's systems infrastructure. Provides leadership to the team and ensures the requirements of the projects/contracts are met. Evaluates, designs and develops existing reports/documents for the performance of the systems. Additionally, Systems Engineering Director requires a bachelor's degree. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.     The Director of Engineering is responsible for shaping the technological direction and driving innovation for the commercial and industrial business group. This role is responsible for activities including new product introductions, cost reduction, technology/research, and lifecycle product support. The position requires excellent technical engineering knowledge coupled with superior people leadership skills, proficiency in quality systems, functional and program management, and business planning expertise. This position will lead a dynamic team of engineers and collaborate closely with cross functional departments to develop product roadmaps and deliver quality products and solutions in the industrial and mobile market.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
    Designs and directs the work of the functional area. Selects, coaches, and develops the team, setting objectives that align with company strategy to inspire and motivate the team. Manages organizational talent through performance management, succession planning and development. Designs and directs processes by which team and individual performance are recognized, feedback is consistently delivered and performance is systematically improved.
    Establishes the vision and strategy to drive world-class excellence within global industrial/mobile engineering teams. Drive results that are specifically targeted to the industrial/mobile market. Leads process with corporate planning and new product development teams.
    Create and maintain an organizational culture which encourages innovation, collaboration, commitment, and a sense of urgency toward goals, and continuous improvement. Challenges team members to question the status quo and ensure that all aspects of the design, development and support process are optimal for the industrial and mobile market.
    Oversee the product development lifecycle for industrial and mobile products, from concept ideation to commercialization. Ensure that our products meet or exceed industry standards for performance, reliability, and efficiency in industrial and mobile environments.
    Effectively manage the development process (e.g. develop time compression techniques, design/application standards for improved repeatability, manage process globally/across multiple locations).
    Develop and lead the product development life cycle which includes interaction from the various business segments throughout design, manufacturability, and serviceability providing our customers with the very best in innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction.
    Provide engineering leadership and design oversight functions for new product development projects including: creating and maintaining development schedules, executing product development plans (schedule, product cost, resources to complete project, quality targets, product specification adherence development and prove out of product validation test plans, etc.), interfacing with internal company personnel
    Ensure the optimal application of technology and engineering resources to meet industrial/mobile product development requirements, per the sales/marketing plan.
    Work directly with Commercial & Industrial Business Group leaders to develop technology and product roadmaps that target specific customers’ needs. Work with leaders to realize significant growth opportunities in the industrial/mobile marketplace.
    Manage expenses to ensure regulatory compliance and support corporate goals (e.g. revenue growth, profitability, market penetration).
    Develop and manage engineering department budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to maximize productivity and efficiency

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related degree
    15 years of progressive engineering experience
    7 years management experience

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    Experience in industrial and/or mobile new product development.
    Leadership experience in leading large, diverse teams, preferably with a focus on industrial and mobile applications, demonstrating ability to inspire and motivate team members towards common goals.
    In-depth knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and certifications applicable to power solutions for industrial and mobile products.
    Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools, enabling effective planning, execution, and monitoring of engineering projects to deliver products on time and within schedule.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    Advanced level experience in team building and leadership skills;
    Strong commitment to quality, safety, and environmental sustainability;
    Experience leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment;
    Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools, enabling effective planning, execution, and monitoring of engineering projects to deliver products on time and within schedule.
    Advanced understanding of engineering technical needs, financial, sales, and marketing as related to product design and development;
    Strong business acumen and financial literacy, with ability to develop and manage budgets and make data-driven decisions to drive profitability and growth.
    Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate market trends, identify growth opportunities, and develop actionable plans to capitalize on them, particularly in industrial and mobile markets.
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Up to 20% travel and valid Driver’s License required.
