The purpose of this job/class within the organization is to supervise the water field operations employees and plan and direct their work assignments.
This job/class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Supervises all Field Operations employees in the day-to-day operation of the department.
Coordinates all work activities for the Field Operations division, including meter reading, field customer service, and maintenance of the distribution, collection, and reuse systems.
Acts as a liaison between the Customer Service and Field Operations divisions to track service orders for completion and coordinate the disconnection and reconnection of customers.
Trains all Field Operation employees in a classroom setting for their Water Distribution License and Wastewater Collection Certificate
Reports all aspects of service interruptions to the proper regulatory agencies and initiates the customer notification process to ensure that all affected customers receive notification.
Serves as the primary leadership in the absence of the Utility Systems Manager.
Reports and completes all Malfunction reports for all wastewater and water malfunctions in the collection system to the proper authorities.
Requires Ten (10) years' experience in utility systems and maintenance or closely related experience and six (6) years of supervisor experience in utilities system.

Requires a valid Florida Class B license with air brake.
Must possess upon appointment to the position: Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Distribution Level 2 License, Wastewater Collection B certification, and Backflow Tester & Repair Certification.
Within one (1) year of hire, must obtain a Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Distribution Level 1 License, Wastewater Collection A Certification Reclaim C certification, Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certification and Backflow repair &Tester.
Position is subject to being "on call" and working after normal City work hours as well as on weekends and holidays.
