    NORMAL WORK HOURS: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday
    IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Senior Program Director
    OTHERS WHO MAY ASSIGN WORK: Chief Information Officer

    POSITION SUMMARY:
    Reporting to the Senior Program Director, the Business Systems Analyst (BSA) will be the key point of contact for business stakeholders in prioritizing, organizing, designing and implementing a suite of technology solutions supporting a wide range of business processes at Olin College. From project inception to implementation and support, the BSA will ensure that users maximize the potential of these solutions while applying best practices. On an ongoing basis, the BSA analyzes end-user requirements, responds to and resolves more complex end-user requests/issues, participates in end-user support and training activities, acts in the role of analyst to define/refine business processes and support end-user's reporting needs.

    This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Enterprise Resource Planning

    • Engage with internal stakeholders to determine a strategy and vision for software applications, including business needs and requirements;
    • Assist with system upgrades including development of comprehensive test plans, timelines that consider operational impact, risk assessment, and ultimate execution of upgrades with as little impact to the College community as possible;
    • Serve as a liaison between stakeholders and users, building strong relationships and becoming a trusted partner and subject matter expert;
    • Collect, analyze, and translate business requirements into user stories, workflows, business process logic, process maps, wireframes, specifications, and acceptance criteria;
    • Lead requirements analysis and verification, ensuring that user stories and specifications are complete, consistent, concise, unambiguous, and verifiable;
    • Develop and execute communication plans, proactively providing information related to functionality changes, known issues or other application related developments;
    • Regularly share and report on optimization and enhancement findings, documenting changes to the system;
    • Ensure solutions meet business needs and requirements;
    • Negotiate priorities and long-term plans with stakeholders and technical team.

    Operations Support

    • Provide operational support related to user security access, application tuning, configuration, audit and compliance for applications integrated with the ERP environment;
    • Configure, test and deploy requested and required changes to ERP and downstream applications in coordination with functional departments and Information Technology support;
    • Provide appropriate analysis in partnership with business units related to process changes to assess system impact (both from a technical and change management perspective) and options;
    • Escalate, prioritize and facilitate decisions around systems and technology release changes;
    • Ensure all operational functions run as expected and provide triage when there are issues;
    • Coordinate deployment of application changes to production environment following established change management protocols;
    • Develop test plans, coordinate and execute system testing;
    • Generate documentation and facilitate implementation of business requirements for technology initiatives including: data flows, data modeling, workflow and business process;
    • Participate in system planning and testing including user acceptance testing and system integration testing;
    • Provide troubleshooting to stakeholders and ensure all issues reach resolution in timely manner with ongoing communication.

    Training and Documentation

    • In collaboration with the IT Department and the Chief Information Officer, apply and implement technology best practices, guidelines and repeatable processes for the College;
    • Develop and facilitate end-user classroom, online, or vendor-delivered training in both group and one-on-one settings;
    • Create and maintain technical and end user documentation.

    EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
    • Minimum of three years related experience, preferably in higher education.
    • Experience with project management and implementation of business applications.
    • Experience configuring enterprise and / or business applications.
    • Ability to use Excel and other tools to manipulate data for import or export.
    • Strong knowledge of business analyst tools and techniques: requirements documentation, user support, system configuration and testing.
    • Strong verbal and written communications skills; Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues with varying technical skills in a small community.
    • Ability to multi-task, work independently and within a team. Willing to share ideas openly and learn from others.
    • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and comply with applicable laws and regulations such as FERPA.
    • Ability to prepare documentation/training materials.
    • Ability to provide training and user support.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills.
    • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to values of equity, access, and belonging.
