Teacher Elementary School prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an assigned elementary school. Develops and implements grade appropriate course work, activities, and assessments to meet the academic, developmental, and social needs of children in K-5 classroom setting. Being a Teacher Elementary School monitors and guides classroom behavior. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. Additionally, Teacher Elementary School evaluates and monitors student's performance and progress. Participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require state-specific teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Teacher Elementary School occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Ascension Lutheran School is looking for a dynamic, faithful, innovative team player to be the Homeroom Teacher for 7th Grade Service Academy. The ideal candidate would possess a California teaching credential, have several years of experience with middle school school-aged students, and a passion for serving their neighbor. The Middle School Academies at Ascension feature the Leadership, Service, and Innovation Academies in sixth through eighth grade, respectively. Students experience several impactful field trips each year, and their teachers help them to process these field trips and other Academy experiences so that they grow into – in the words of our vision statement – bold, compassionate leaders who inspire and serve others in their walk with Jesus Christ. While it is not required, excellence in teaching math through Geometry and Algebra 2 is also a consideration for this position.
This position includes teaching Social Studies, Math, Bible, Homeroom, and the ideal candidate will be flexible and a team player who is looking to impart and grow in their Christian faith.
The ideal candidate will be passionate for the job with an ability to reach out to students and create a relationship of mutual trust. They will know how to organize a class and make learning a meaningful process.
