Teacher High School prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an assigned secondary school. Develops and implements grade appropriate course work, activities, and assessments to meet the academic needs of children in a grade 6-12 classroom setting. Being a Teacher High School evaluates and monitors student's performance. Assesses and documents students' progress. Additionally, Teacher High School participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require state-specific teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Teacher High School occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Role of the High School Math Teacher Saint John’s High School seeks a dynamic and intellectually engaging high school math teacher. The ideal candidate is committed to guiding young men as they construct their understanding of math in a student-centered classroom environment. Depending on the successful candidate’s other areas of expertise, teaching one or two sections in another academic department may also be considered. Minimum Qualifications ● An undergraduate degree in Math (a Master’s preferred). ● Rich knowledge of Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Geometry, and facility with a variety of teaching tools. ● Fluency with mathematical thinking skills and current discipline-specific pedagogy. ● Dedication to supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students. ● Robust interpersonal skills. ● Ability to articulate effectively the values and mission of Saint John’s High School and the Xaverian Brothers. ● Commitment to Catholic education. ● Knowledge of contemporary educational issues, topics, and trends. ● Enthusiasm for working with High School students. ● Experience creating, supporting, and sustaining a culture of access and equity in Math education. ● Dedication to partnering collaboratively with a team of talented faculty. ● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. ● Skilled in navigating the Google Suite of applications (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, etc.) ● Facility and high comfort level with educational technology tools; experience incorporating educational technology into the classroom. ● A proven commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging is required.
