Teacher High School prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an assigned secondary school. Develops and implements grade appropriate course work, activities, and assessments to meet the academic needs of children in a grade 6-12 classroom setting. Being a Teacher High School evaluates and monitors student's performance. Assesses and documents students' progress. Additionally, Teacher High School participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require state-specific teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Teacher High School occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Job Description
The Teacher works under the Leadership of the Principal; collaborates with the Assistant Principal, Department Chairs, and Grade Level Leads to plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The Teacher is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth. The teacher works to achieve the academic goals for the department through the International Baccalaureate Program at the school. The Teacher position is a 10 month position.

Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution (required). Valid Louisiana Teaching Certification or evidence of eligibility for one. 2 years of teaching experience in a high school environment (preferred).
Skills
Knowledge of relevant technology. Ability to speak, read, and write in a language other than English (preferred). Demonstrates strong work ethic to achieve school goals. Displays effective multi-tasking and time management skills. Have knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in secondary education. Have the ability to conform to an established work schedule. Have effective interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate in a concise and effective manner
Work Conditions
Lift up to 65 lbs. Repetitive bending, stretching and stooping. Ability to climb up and down 3 flights of stairs. Have mobility required to ensure the safety of the students. Work outdoors in any variety of weather. Have visual and hearing capabilities that allow consistent supervision of students. Perform light duty cleaning. Light typing and word processing.
