Teacher High School prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an assigned secondary school. Develops and implements grade appropriate course work, activities, and assessments to meet the academic needs of children in a grade 6-12 classroom setting. Being a Teacher High School evaluates and monitors student's performance. Assesses and documents students' progress. Additionally, Teacher High School participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require state-specific teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Teacher High School occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Use a wide variety of teaching techniques to support student learning. Design and demonstrate differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students. Implement accommodations and curricular modifications as specified in educational plans (IEPs) and as needed to meet the learning needs of students. Use a variety of formal and informal assessments to accurately measure student progress toward and modify further instruction. Maintain up-to-date grade books and manage electronic classroom systems/software in accordance with the District's expectations. Use a computer and other technology to support student learning in and out of the classroom. Provide students with support (remediation and enrichment) using a variety of strategies. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, lesson, and assessment design. Participate actively in faculty, department, and other required meetings. Set professional development goals, develop professional development plans, and participate in professional development activities that improve teaching practice Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, parents, and the community. Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Computer experience. Additional duties and relevant responsibilities as assigned by the high school administration.   WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is generally performed in a school environment during the school day, however, there may be occasions for afterschool meetings (ex: Back to School Night). Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the teacher is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear. The teacher is regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch and/or kneel. The teacher is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Must have sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school campus. WORKDAY: The workday is 7:30 am to 2:40 pm. Work year as per Unit D contract. The salary range is based on the Unit D Contract and placement on the salary scale by the principal is determined by relevant work experience, licensure, and educational level. Hiring is contingent upon successful CORI and Fingerprint Background Check clearance.
