Teacher Kindergarten prepares lessons and instructs students in an assigned elementary school's kindergarten. Develops and implements activities to meet the academic, developmental, and social needs of children in kindergarten classroom setting. Being a Teacher Kindergarten monitors and guides classroom behavior. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. Additionally, Teacher Kindergarten assesses and documents students' progress. Participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require state-specific teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Teacher Kindergarten occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. St. Mark’s Nursery School and Kindergarten is a half day, NAEYC accredited, play based program serving families of infants through kindergarten. As we look forward to expanding our class offerings during the 2024/25 school year, we are searching for two new teachers to join our amazing team of professional early educators. Positions range from 2-5 days per week, with 5 day availability preferred.
Teachers work nine months out of the year beginning in mid-August and ending mid-May with contracts renewed annually. We follow the local public school calendar (MCCSC); teachers are paid for all closings and holidays during the school year. A teacher's work day begins at 9 and ends at 12:30 as teachers are paid for one extra hour per day for planning/set up and clean up. Our school day is 9:30am-12pm with kindergarten meeting from 9-12:30.
We are looking for dynamic, energetic, early childhood educators who value relationship building and community. A deep understanding of child development and supporting social emotional learning, play-based and child-led education are musts. We spend a lot of time outside so a passion for the outdoors is a definite plus. Experience is preferred; however, there are many opportunities for on-job training and professional development throughout the year.
