    As a Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with certified teachers to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment. Your role will involve assisting in preparing and managing classroom activities, ensuring that every student has the support they need to thrive academically and socially. From organizing materials to facilitating group activities, your contributions will be instrumental in fostering a positive and inclusive classroom culture.

    Special Knowledge/Skills: 

    • Ability to work well with children 
    • Ability to communicate effectively 

     

    Experience: 

    Some experience working with children 

     

    Major Responsibilities and Duties: 

    Instructional Support 

    1. Work cooperatively with general education teachers to ensure high-quality instruction for students most at risk for academic struggle.
    2. Conduct instructional exercises the teacher assigns; work with individual students, small groups and/or whole group. 
    3. Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays. 
    4. Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments. 
    5. Keep anecdotal documentation as needed for small group instruction.
    6. Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom. 
    7. Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment. 
    8. Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports. 

     

    Student Management 

    1. Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty. 
    2. Keep teachers informed of special needs or problems of individual students. 

    Other 

    1. Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance. 
    2. Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned. 
    3. Communicate student needs to appropriate staff and leaders.
    4. Other duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities: 

    None

     

    Equipment Used: 

    Copier, personal computer, and audiovisual equipment. 

     

    Working Conditions: 

    Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting.
