Position Summary
Reporting to the Communications Director, the Communicator will be part of a team of professionals who help deliver benefit and training programs funded by labor-management Trusts. The Communicator is responsible for coordinating with the Communications Director, Trust Director, and program staff to develop and execute strategic communications plans from concept to deliverables. While this position is primarily responsible for Uplift Oregon program communications, the position may also be required to cross-train on communications relating to other RISE Partnership programs, including Carewell SEIU 503, Long-Term CareWorks, and the Essential Worker Healthcare Trust.
Essential Functions
The primary responsibility for this position is to develop and execute in coordination with the Uplift Oregon Program Director, Communications Director, and program staff, a strategic communications plan and accompanying systems so that state employees know about, and can access, Uplift programs. Specific tasks may include (but are not limited to):
Produce written recruitment materials, including print, for Uplift programming drawing on program provided descriptions
Audience analysis and determine best mediums to reach specific audiences
Write short news features for agency newsletters and other communication tools to promote Uplift programming
Write, edit, and design deliverables for program participants and key partners, including annual reports, emails, social media content, leaflets, newsletter articles, and other participant communications, often on short timelines
Work with operations and program teams to develop systems for communications implementation and evaluation
Maintain a photo and video library of Uplift programs and activities
Manage the Uplift website and assure materials are up to date by regular review with program team who are responsible for their accuracy
Track, measure, and report effectiveness of communications programs
Develop above content using key messages that convey Uplift mission and RISE values
Work with and protect sensitive and confidential information
Anticipate opportunities for photos and story gathering during Uplift programming, collect and plan for use with program staff
Engage with and solicit stories from a wide diversity of state employees, and be comfortable lifting up the voices of people of color, LGBTQIA state workers, and immigrants, among other communities
