Technical Illustrator creates illustrations for use in technical manuals, product specifications, maintenance documents, advertisements, and other media. Utilizes a variety of graphic files, photo images, and sketches to create detailed technical illustrations. Being a Technical Illustrator produces 3-D, cutaway, or exploded views of objects. Familiar and proficient with graphic illustration and CAD software tools. Additionally, Technical Illustrator typically requires an associate degree in art, design, or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Technical Illustrator independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors. Job Responsibilities:
1. Produces technical illustrations for use in service publications.
2. Conducts research to support efforts in developing comprehensive parts breakdowns.
3. Operates photographic equipment with reasonable degree of proficiency.
4. Interprets engineering drawings, bills of material, vendor furnished technical data, and physical parts in support of materials to be published.
5. Assists in other departmental activities, such as printing and bindery operations, shipping and receiving operations.
