Technical Librarian develops and maintains a collection of technical information and provides research and reference support to researchers, scientists, and engineers. Builds an extensive network of technical information resources and contacts from various sources like government agencies, universities, professional and industry associations to obtain the required information. Being a Technical Librarian communicates with researchers to develop and maintain a broad knowledge and understanding of the organization's relevant topics and effectively target technical publications as information sources. Creates abstracts, bibliographies, and metadata to classify the information. Additionally, Technical Librarian obtains translations of literature as needed. Supports and maintains the library's technology infrastructure and information retrieval tools. Typically requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a manager. The Technical Librarian work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Technical Librarian typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To serve as an educational leader that supervises and manages the school library media center. Promote the integration of curriculum and resources that allow students to develop skills in locating, evaluating, synthesizing, and using information to solve problems. Serve as a facilitator of knowledge to ensure that the library/media center is involved in the instructional programs of the school.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university
Valid Texas librarian or learning resources specialist certificate or endorsement
Master of library Science preferred or Masters plus Librarian endorsement
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of library skills, automation system, inventory and library standards and procedures
Knowledge of technology hardware, software, and applications skills.
Strong organizational, communication, management, leadership and interpersonal skills
Experience with Windows 7/10
Experience:

Three school years of classroom teaching experience from a public or accredited private school
