Telecommunications Technician maintains an organization's telecommunications network to ensure dependable operation. Monitors network systems and performs diagnostic tests to document and report performance levels. Being a Telecommunications Technician conducts routine checks and preventative maintenance to minimize malfunctions and downtime. Troubleshoots telecommunication issues and performs or coordinates repairs. Additionally, Telecommunications Technician may require an associate degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Telecommunications Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Qualified candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability to perform cable drops and terminate category cable using T-568 RJ45 modular pinout. The work site location will vary based on the location of the install or repair. Technician should have general knowledge of simple hand tools and power tools. Experience using ladders and working safely on them is preferred. Candidates that are not prepared to pass a drug test should not apply. Knowledge of telecommunications equipment, especially data network systems will be given priority.
