Being a Textbook Manager develops textbook buy back programs and return policies. Supervises the preparation and return of overstock and defective books. Additionally, Textbook Manager may lead and direct the work of others. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a bookstore manager. The Textbook Manager supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Textbook Manager typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.       SUMMARY: Operating under the general direction of the Director of Purchasing, Warehouse, and Contracts this position is responsible for the daily operations of the Textbook/Instructional Resources warehouse including maintaining inventory controls. Responsibilities include ordering, receiving, stocking, tracking and distribution of all curriculum and related instructional resources at school district sites per state, and district policies. This position serves as a technical expert and point-of-contact for district staffregarding textbook inventory locations, distribution and availability. In addition, Lead has some administrative duties including oversight of the warehouse staff, reporting and scheduling requirements.

      Job Responsibility Descriptions


      1. Oversees & supervises the daily textbook warehouse operations. This position works in close collaboration with Curriculum and System Design leadership and other staff to help ensure compliance with approved curriculum resources and District policies; especially as it relates to budgeted quantities. Duties under this responsibility include tracking the ordering, shipment and receiving of instructional resources. This role coordinates a high volume of requests and is a crucial point of contact for vendors and employees working cooperatively to facilitate these interactions in a timely manner. Responsibilities in this area include communicating with staff and vendors to resolve issues including order numbers, providing product information, and resolving order issues.


      2. Oversees, supervises and trains the department’s Warehouse staff in the performance of their job responsibilities and ensures adequate staff coverage for delivery schedules. Supervisory responsibilities include all aspects of interviewing, hiring, scheduling, and evaluating performance. Disciplinary and termination duties are performed according to applicable federal, state, and District laws, regulations, and policies. Ensures textbook warehouse staff follow the District’s guiding principles and standards for all inventory stocking and picking activities.


      3. Maintains and implements the Textbook Policy and Procedure Manual which is updated annually and used to assist staff in obtaining Board of Education (BOE) approved resources, follow established procedures and for creating effective resource turnover/change. Approved primary and instructional resources are established through BOE action and designated resource committee work. The Instructional Resource Technicians provide front line support and implementation of these policies.


      4. Organizes and oversees the annual District Book Fair held in the spring each year. Employee is responsible for the scheduling, communications, and materials collection across all schools and academic departments.


      5. Assists with mid-year and end-of-year inventory of textbook warehouse.


      6. As assigned this position may research and recommend upgrades and changes to warehouse equipment and or systems. In addition, other duties may be assigned as needed





      EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
      · High school diploma or equivalent required at hire*; Minimum three years inventory and/or warehouse management experience required;
      · Operating knowledge of resource materials inventory ordering system within 60 days of hire;
      · Prior supervisory experience desirable.
      • Acceptable education and experience equivalent will be at the sole discretion of the District

      LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:
      · Criminal background check required for hire;
      · Valid Colorado driver’s license required;
      · District’s small vehicle permit required within 60 days of hire;
      · Successfully pass 50# lifting test upon hire with recertification every three years;
      · Forklift certification required within 90 days of hire; preference given for certification at hire;
      · Attend and successfully complete all professional development training as required by law, or as directed by Supervisor.
