Textbook Manager manages the textbook department of the campus bookstore. Purchases the necessary texts for university courses, makes pricing decisions, and keeps track of inventory and sales. Being a Textbook Manager develops textbook buy back programs and return policies. Supervises the preparation and return of overstock and defective books. Additionally, Textbook Manager may lead and direct the work of others. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a bookstore manager. The Textbook Manager supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Textbook Manager typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Title:                                          District Textbook Coordinator

    Department:                            Educational Services    

    Immediate Supervisor:           Head of Educational Services

        

    Job Goal:  Assist with the implementation of duties and the responsibilities of the Educational Services personnel.  Oversee the district curriculum bond budget which includes the purchase and inventory of textbooks. Mange the department budget to meet the needs of the Educational Services Department.

     

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

       

    1. Manage the ordering, shipping, delivery and payment of all district textbooks.
    1. Maintain textbook warehouse for extra district textbooks to be distributed as needed.
    1. Utilize Destiny district textbook manager to inventory, relocate and determine numbers of additional textbooks necessary to meet student needs.
    1. Textbook adoption – Handle communications with textbook committees (district, elementary and secondary); assist in preparation for salespersons’ presentations and workshops; setup various workshops to train teachers.
    1. Textbook Disposal – arrange the sale and disposal of used textbooks no longer in adoption.
    2. Mange the Educational Services Department Budget to make sure the department has the supplies needed.
    1. Provide secretarial services to Educational Services personnel.
    2. Assist in coordinating workshops and meetings as requested: notification, buying

              supplies, schedule rooms, set up, etc.

    1. Manage and maintain general office files.
    2. Communicate with parents, administrators, teachers and content specialists.
    3. Other duties as assigned

        

    Length of Contract:  Two hundred forty (240) contract days. 

    Salary commensurate with experience on the negotiated agreement of the Support

    Employees of Edmond (SEE).

     

    Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Associate

    Superintendent in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policies, state law, and the negotiated agreement with the Support Employees of Edmond (SEE).

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES:

    None.

     

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

     

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    None required.

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read, analyzes, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, staff, parents, and the general public.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Ability to plan budgets and use the mathematical skills required in doing so.  Maintain accurate records and support documentation for projects under the supervision of the position.

     

    REASONING SKILLS:

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

     

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Ability to use computer and computer related programs and other technologies needed to perform essential job functions.  Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.  Ability to organize and chair or facilitate committees and meetings.  Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.  Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
