Top Compensation Executive leads an organization's compensation department. Cost Accountant

  • Summary: The Cost Accountant is a key position at Top Tier. The person is responsible for inventory and product costing and reporting, identifying areas of potential improvements, and working with team members to develop and attain accurate and timely cost reporting. The position’s focus is on the elements of product costs – materials, labor, and overhead – and the BOMs, labor collections, and overhead allocations, both planned and actual. The Cost Accountant must be skilled, detail oriented, motivated, and able to deliver information in a timely fashion. Collaboration and working with others cooperatively and productively are important in this role. cost accounting in a SAP environment is necessary to complete the overall financial picture as it relates specifically to product costs.

    Essential Functions of the Job:

    • Maintain inventory valuation roll forward
    • Review and analyze inventory and prepare monthly reports
    • Prepare detailed analysis of material and labor costs, report job costs and conduct variance analyses
    • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales, cost of goods, and inventory reports
    • Report on and analyze gross margin by customer and project
    • Report on monthly sales, material & labor costs, and WIP
    • Assist with cycle counts and physical inventories
    • Manage Labor tracking in SAP
    • Review production timesheets prior to payroll processing
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, annually operational KPI’s
    • Help develop new processes to improve cost reporting and financial efficiency
    • Work closely with manufacturing and finance on procedures, process controls, and improvements including procedure documentation
    • Back up other accounting functions as needed

    Qualifications:

    • Associate's or higher Degree in Accounting with at least 5 years of inventory and cost accounting in a manufacturing environment required; or equivalent experience
    • At least 2 years of experience working with SAP in a cost accounting role is required
    • Detail and deadline oriented is a must
    • Intermediate or advanced Microsoft Excel skills required. Access skills highly desired.
    • Skilled with database systems such as SAP, and pcMRP
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Experience working efficiently and productively with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards
    • Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
    • Able to quickly learn computer programs, build reports using queries, lookups, and pivot tables; gather data for reporting and analysis
    • Strong organizational and communication skills
    • Strong work ethic
    • Able to work independently and cooperatively with others

    Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Functions:

    • Move within office and manufacturing environments without assistance or restriction.
    • Bend, stoop, lean, twist, squat occasionally.
    • Requires sitting for extended periods up to 4 hours at a time.

    Qualifications Summary: Requires knowledge and ability to satisfactorily perform duties and functions of the job classification. Must be knowledgeable in manufacturing financial reporting, detailed job cost accounting procedures and processes, and be an advanced Excel user. Must have 2 years SAP experience, knowledgeable in database/datasets reporting and analysis. Must be knowledgeable and able to perform general administrative and operational tasks. Must possess the necessary interpersonal skills, written and verbal, to work productively with others and fulfill job duties and requirements.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
