    ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    As our Director of Federal Government Affairs, you will be responsible for identifying key federal policy issues affecting company interests, helping the company formulate its positions on those issues, and managing a number of federal lobbyists and vendors to advance the company’s positions.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Identify federal policy issues affecting company interests; prioritize issue engagement
    • Develop proactive and defensive strategic plans for federal legislative and administration activities
    • Engage and manage external team of federal consultants to advance company objectives
    • Liaise between consultants and internal external affairs team
    • Establish relationships with key federal lawmakers and the administration
    • Develop strategy for senior leadership’s federal policy and political engagement; create materials for meetings with legislators, the administration, and their staff
    • Oversee federal, bipartisan political contribution strategy
    • Keep senior management apprised of progress and project status

    PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 10 years experience in political affairs, preferably both public and private sectors
    • Superior analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Experience building and managing external consulting teams
    • Experience working with federal-level advocacy
    • Experience working alongside state-level advocacy a plus
    • Experience with healthcare/pharmaceutical advocacy a plus
    • Experience managing grassroots and grasstops campaigns a plus
    • Ability to identify key problems and opportunities for company
    • Deep understanding of the mechanics of federal-level politics and their interaction with both federal and state regulatory / legislative activity; ability to identify short- and long-term political trends
    • Ability to manage a team of external consultants
    • Ability to track and prioritize multiple issues across multiple workstreams simultaneously
    • Ability to communicate effectively with internal resources
    • Proven team player with an ability to thrive in a start-up environment
    • High level of integrity and ethics critical

    EDUCATION: 

    • Bachelor’s Degree required, law or business degree a plus
