Fabrication Shop Supervisor
Reports To: Plant Manager
Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt, Full-time
Position Location: Clover, SC
Overview:
The Fabrication Shop Supervisor is responsible for the overall production in the welding/fabrication department. This supervisor will also manage the team, the quality of their work, and their productivity. This position is responsible for welding using all types of equipment and materials as well as fabricating products from a variety of materials and processes by performing the following duties.

Position Duties:
- Manage assigned manufacturing team members to ensure product quality, efficient work habits, and on-time completion of work orders.
- Train, develop, and evaluate staff, setting performance standards.
- Ensure adequate capacity for current production needs and support analysis to ensure future capacity. This includes ensuring adequate cross-training so that multiple people can operate critical equipment thereby reducing downtime.
- Implement, document, and manage manufacturing equipment logs and standard operating procedure practices.
- Identify, recommend, and implement changes to improve productivity and quality, reduce cost, and decrease scrap and product rework. Direct the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of production standards.
- Ensure the timely reporting and resolution of production build issues.
- Actively produce the product as time allows by achieving a work/management.
- Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensure compliance with current federal, state, and local regulations. Consult with the Human Resources Department as appropriate.
- Assist in the development of new products and develop goals and project plans.
- Supervise members of the Fabrication team, offering guidance and assistance as needed.
- Assist in making decisions in employee recruitment, performance evaluations, and other supervisory activities.
- Support and monitor production activities to ensure operators are meeting quality specifications.
- Identify and develop pathways for production improvement.
- Identify production areas where employees show strength.
- Create plans to meet customer rebar requests, and organize the programming, calibration, and training required to complete using our equipment.
- Approve and submit time sheets for the rebar team.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements:
- 5 years’ experience preferred.
- Three to five years of experience managing others in an AISC or ISO environment.
- Five years’ experience, supervising welding, sheet metal forming, precast form, and Structure Steel manufacturing.
- Ability to understand symbols and diagrams, read blueprints, and/or other printed instructional material in the making of products or parts.
- Must be thoroughly familiar with fabrication equipment such as CNC, Press Brake, Saw, Drilling equipment, Plasma Cutting, and Shear.
- Ability to produce auto CAD drawings.
- Familiarity with an ERP system, ASA specific.
- Must have the ability to follow written or verbal instructions.
- Must have knowledge of health and safety requirements.
- Experience in Excel, Word, Outlook, QuickBooks.
- Field-related associate degree preferred.

- Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of machines or vehicles to exact positions.
- Ability to judge the distances between you and an object, depth perception.
- Ability to respond to a signal when it appears, reaction time.
- Coordinate the use of hands, arms, and legs fully. Reach for the handle and use it to manipulate objects and materials.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Vision – the ability to see details at close range and details at a distance (either naturally or with correction).
- Regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Mental and visual attention is necessary to effectively complete work tasks.
Environmental Conditions
- Work outside and be exposed to the weather.
- Wear protective or safety equipment, i.e. safety boots/shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, etc.
- May be exposed to high levels of noise, grease, dust, and a variety of substances that are typically associated with a construction site.
