Prepares abstracts and performs coding of clinical patient data related to cancer. Being a Tumor Registrar performs data analysis and provides reports used by researchers, physicians, institutions, and patients. Adheres to all coding and privacy policies, guidelines, and regulations. Additionally, Tumor Registrar may require an associate degree or equivalent. Requires Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential. May require Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Tumor Registrar works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. The Registrar position is a critical role in any healthcare organization as it impacts customer experience, quality outcomes, and financial performance. In this role, you will work alongside other Patient Access team members in registering patients for both Outpatient visits and Emergency Department visits. Registration duties will include admission processes, care coordination, and demographic/insurance verification.
