Underwriting Manager jobs in Mount Pleasant, SC
Underwriting Manager manages daily operations of the underwriting process. Implements underwriting strategy and operational policies for product lines. Being an Underwriting Manager oversees the review and approval process for decisions and recommendations related to complex cases. Defines and establishes procedures for risk criteria, application and renewal, and acceptance and rejection. Additionally, Underwriting Manager develops underwriting team expertise with coaching, support and educational programs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a senior manager. The Underwriting Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Underwriting Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Description:
· Interns will spend the summer working alongside our Personal Lines and Commercial Lines departments, with an opportunity to return to work in the department of their choice at the end, for more in-depth experience
- Each intern will be given the opportunity to gain knowledge of various products from top rated companies.
- Obtain hands-on experience with information technology and standard operating procedures specific to a Managing General Agent.
- Gain exposure to building relationships with independent agents within the various J&J territories.
- An introduction to various creative marketing techniques specific to the wholesale insurance industry.
- All interns will be given the opportunity to experience sales and marketing efforts specific to Johnson & Johnson by:
- Going on agency visits/sales calls with our underwriters and field marketing representatives.
- Attending various company events with agency partners and company representatives
