Utilization Review Technician conducts utilization reviews to determine if patients are receiving care appropriate to illness or condition. Monitors patient charts and records to evaluate care concurrent with the patients treatment. Being a Utilization Review Technician reviews treatment plans and status of approvals from insurers. Collects and complies data as required and according to applicable policies and regulations. Additionally, Utilization Review Technician consults with nurses and physicians as needed. Position is non-RN. May require an associate degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. May require Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). The Utilization Review Technician gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Carrus Care Mansfield mental health clinic serving the pediatric and adolescent population, is seeking a Utilization Review Coordinator (RN)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Responsible for coordinating and monitoring day-to-day operations of the utilization management program for the outpatient clinic.
2. Directs the activities necessary to ensure appropriate utilization of the clinic and its resources while maintaining optimal achievable standards of patient care.
3. Responsible for analyzing records to determine legitimacy of patient continued stay by performing concurrent reviews.
4. Participates in treatment team meetings to report said legitimacy to physicians and team members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Three to five years of management experience is preferred.
· Two years’ experience in psychiatric setting is preferred.
· Requires good computer skills.
· Must be able to effectively communicate in English via verbal and written means.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:
· Current state Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse license is required.
· BLS certification is required upon hire.
· ACLS and PALS certifications are required within 6 months of hire.
· De-escalation training is required within 30 days of hire.
