Voice Communications Manager jobs in Texas

Voice Communications Manager is responsible for managing the policies and procedures of voice communications. Ensures uninterrupted access to all voice telecommunication features including voicemail, ACD or PBX systems. Being a Voice Communications Manager oversees the design and implementation of voice telecommunications networks. Selects vendors and negotiates contracts. Additionally, Voice Communications Manager reviews reports on system specifications in support of system upgrades and makes final decision regarding updates. Involved in long-range or strategic voice communications plans. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a top management. The Voice Communications Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Voice Communications Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • The candidate must have extensive experience with the installation, termination and testing of Structured Cable in commercial environments. Responsible for configuring, installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, implementing, and planning Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), wireless, wired and voice telecommunication systems. The candidate should have knowledge of BICSI guidelines for proper install and termination procedures. This position requires that you be able to train and supervise apprentices in a team environment while facilitating the installation of cabling and electronics. A focus on safety, quality, production and schedule is fundamental to all work performed. Employees are expected to be committed to excellence and generate a high quality of work. All employees are expected to consistently report to work on time, work well with other employees to accomplish a common goal, and maintain a safe work environment. MCA Communications will provide hard hat, safety glasses, gloves and safety vest which must be worn at all time while on the job site. Employees must provide their own hand tools.


    Job Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Installation of video and data cable with Cat 5E, Cat 6a as well as fiber cable.
    • Terminating and testing of horizontal copper (Cat 5e, Cat 6a).
    • Termination of fiber
    • Termination of riser cable.
    • Installation of patch panels. 
    • Label and test horizontal cable.
    • Installation of backbone and riser cable (copper & fiber).
    • Installation of interior conduit, Panduit and Wiremold.
    • Read, interpret, and understand plans and specifications.
    • Installation of plywood and racks.
    • Installation of cable trays in TC, MDF and IDF.
    • Assist in OSP (outside plant) installations.
    • Pulling cable 100 pair or smaller unassisted.
    • Installing prefab assembly unassisted.
    • Assisting in pulling all size of cables.
    • Installing pull and junction boxes up to 24” x 24”.
    • Assisting with Exterior underground layout.
    • Assisting with interior overhead and under floor raceways layouts for telecom.
    • Performing an Operational Risk Management Briefing for any task mastered to date.
    • Generating or adding to an Activity Hazard Analysis for any task mastered.
    • Troubleshoot and fix Cat 5, 5E and Cat 6a cable problems.
    • Terminate various manufacturers of copper termination blocks.
    • Knowledge of all fiber termination connectors.
    • Mentor Apprentices

     

    Experience:

    • 7 years prior experience in commercial communications industry with a Prior experience in communications work including room build-out, Cat6, Cat6A and fiber optic termination, interpret and maintain drawing and as-builts. Test, troubleshoot, and repair copper and fiber optic cabling.

     

    Requirements:

    • Must have a valid driver's license to be able to operate equipment (for which you will be trained).
    • High school diploma or GED or 1- 2 years of experience with an Associate degree.

     

    Abilities:

    • Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time.
    • Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance.
    • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
    • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
    • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
    • May use a standard ladder meeting osha standards while carrying tools.
