Job Overview:

We seek a highly organized and motivated individual to join our team as the Volunteer Coordinator. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of our volunteer program, ensuring a positive and impactful experience for both volunteers and the organization. The Volunteer Coordinator (VC) primary responsibilities include the planning and execution of the volunteer human resource program; identification, development and maintaining relationships with prospective individual and/or organizational donors; and planning & directing youth-related program structured activities.

The VC will carry out the responsibilities of the position as defined below:

Duties

• Have expert knowledge of Mentoring Plus policies and procedures
• Recruit, screen, interview, and train life coaches (mentors) and other volunteers
• Develop and implement strategies to recruit and retain volunteers
• Provide ongoing consultation, guidance, and ongoing training to the life coaches
• Created and oversaw theimplementation of an ongoing recruitment plan, including thedevelopment of annual recruitment and quarterly activity plans, thedevelopment and distribution of program marketing materials, presentations to targeted organizations, ensuring a presence at key community events, etc.
• Plan and implement recognition activities for program participants
• Research, develop, and maintain all aspects of relationship/contact management for key volunteers, including database management, recognition materials, and oral and written communications.
• Research, identify, and develop relationships with prospective volunteers and recruiting partners.
• Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, activities, and impact
• Plan and direct youth related structured programming
• Utilize Salesforce or a similar CRM system to track volunteer data and generate reports
• Complete other duties and activities as needed

Qualifications

• Associate to Bachelor’s degree preferred with emphasis in human services, social work, psychology, marketing, and education
• Experience in human services, social work, or thecriminal justice system.
• Strong planning, organizational, writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills
• Serve as a liaison between volunteers and staff, fostering effective communication and collaboration
• Creativity, reliability, and flexibility are essential in assuming significant responsibility
• Experience working in racially, ethnically, and socio-economically diverse urban communities preferred
• Proven experience in volunteer management or related field

Experience:

- Proven experience in volunteer management or related field

- Strong knowledge of best practices in volunteer recruitment, training, and retention

- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups of individuals

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

- Ability to speak publicly and represent the organization at events or meetings

- Familiarity with social media platforms for volunteer recruitment and engagement

- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others

Compensation

Starting salary range: $16-$20 per hour
