Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager jobs in Columbia, SC

Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager supervises the operations and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant to ensure compliance with regulatory procedures and reporting practices. Oversees sampling and testing systems, and the testing and maintenance of pumps, conveyors, blowers, and other equipment. Being a Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager ensures staff is up-to-date with all federal, state, and local regulations and environmental guidelines. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or other tech degree. Additionally, Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager typically reports to a manager or director. The Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Water and wastewater Operators are important members of the team, responsible for keeping plants operating at maximum efficiency. Operators are given every other weekend off. Operators are given a company vehicle to drive to and from work.

    If you have the following, we want to hear from you:

    • Relevant work experience including knowledge of process control techniques, maintenance procedures, and safe work practices
    • Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform work on pumps, motors, and other equipment
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical document and diagrams
    • Degree in environmental science, biology, or related field preferred

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Monitor daily operation and maintenance of environmental control systems
    • Oversee periodic sampling as required
    • Monitor water to assure quality standards and proper chemical balance
    • Assist with preparation of technical calculations and reports to regulatory agencies
    • Ensure required documents are properly maintained
