You will join our Architecture/Engineering Process Practice and partner with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver the highest quality solutions to our clients with consistency and accuracy. Join us as a Director of Industrial Refrigeration Engineering, Design and take charge of our dynamic and talented team of industrial refrigeration engineers and designers and lead them towards excellence. Our refrigeration design team plans, designs, and implements refrigeration mechanical systems for industrial food and beverage production facilities, cold storage warehouses, and other related facilities. Client Engagement and Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact. Develop and nurture client engagements to support our business growth objectives. Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and expectations, ensuring alignment with project goals. Act as a trusted advisor to clients, offering technical expertise and guidance. Champion Quality Assurance: Actively participate in milestone and final reviews of design deliverables to ensure the highest quality work product. Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers to review and mark up drawing sets and specifications. Identify and rectify errors or omissions in drawings and specifications, fostering a culture of excellence within the Technical Delivery Team. Refrigeration system design may include central ammonia systems, Freon systems, chilled glycol/water systems, dehumidification systems, process cooling systems and heat exchangers for various applications. Drive Continuous Improvement: Solicit input to gather valuable Lessons Learned from each project. Develop actionable plans to implement continuous improvements, ensuring enhanced performance on future projects. Workload & Productivity Management: Administer daily workload priorities for all projects, maintaining efficient project assignments. Collaborate with Leads and Project Managers to manage workload planning. Forecast resource needs and facilitate their acquisition, either temporarily from other offices or permanently through recruitment. Foster collaboration with other Engineering Managers to optimize workload resourcing, production quality, and professional development. Monitor weekly labor utilization for maximum productivity. Proposal Preparation: Assist in proposal preparation by defining scope and estimating the level of effort required for new work activities. Mentorship & Career Development: Mentor and empower team members to enhance their knowledge and capabilities in alignment with our practice goals. Support individual growth and provide opportunities for advancement within the team. Coordination and Client Communication: Promote design coordination across all disciplines. Monitor productivity during the design development process. Ensure the team comprehends project scope and client expectations, facilitating design coordination with regular milestone reviews. Recognize and manage out-of-scope engineering work requests to assist Project Managers and Discipline Leads with change management. What You’ll Bring Minimum of 10 years’ experience with hands on industrial refrigeration mechanical engineering design, demonstrating an ability to complete refrigeration system analysis, sizing, design, as well as production of construction documents, specifications, and reports. 2 years' experience as a director, principal engineer, engineering manager or mechanical department manager preferred. Experience in the design of facilities for food/beverage, Pharma/life science, distribution, and/or consumer packaged goods manufacturing is required. Must have excellent communication skills while collaborating effectively and efficiently with the various teams of engineers and architects on projects all over the country. Experience managing others. Experience in the design of mechanical systems such as industrial process HVAC systems is also desired. Excellent computer skills and prior experience with AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel. Ability to work in a fast-paced design environment effectively and efficiently. Professional Engineer Licensure and experience as Engineer of Record desired. A BS degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited school (MS in a related field is desired). Willing and able to travel as necessary for project requirements to include but not be limited to project installation and start-up activities, client meetings, company sponsored meetings, trainings, industry related seminars, forums, or conventions, etc. Relocation assistance may be available for outstanding candidates, determined on an individual basis.
