Workers' Compensation Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing a company's workers' compensation program. Implements all matters of the program, including claim investigations, settlements, and litigation. Being a Workers' Compensation Manager establishes standards and procedures for all matters relating to workers' compensation. Responsible for finding an insurance provider that meets organizational goals of employee coverage and cost effectiveness. Additionally, Workers' Compensation Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of unit/department. The Workers' Compensation Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Workers' Compensation Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     JOB REQUIREMENTS
    Minimum Education: High School Diploma. Post-Secondary degree/certification preferred.
    Minimum Work Experience: 2 years related experience working with various aspects of worker's compensation programs is preferred
    Required Licenses / Certifications: BLS, CNA, CMA or LPN
    Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: The Back Office Assistants have the responsibility for following policy in the overall operation of the Clinic's back office. They assist the providers in the immediate care of the patients and assists in clerical duties as time allows. The Clinic's Back Office Assistants report directly to the Clinic Manager.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

    Monitors all work-related injuries and illnesses presenting to the Emergency Department, clinics and/or physician offices.  Reviews the Worker’s Compensation Log daily, retrieves appropriate records and initiates telephone communication with each ill or injured employee/patient.  Schedules follow-up appointments as recommended by the provider and based on specific employee/patient needs.  Notifies individual client companies regarding specific treatment plans for their ill or injured employees.

    Initiates and maintains ongoing communication with contracted employers and their representatives while assuring employee/patient confidentiality.  Provides updated information to employer/representative at time of each employee/patient visit.  Notifies employer/representative when an employee/patient fails to keep a scheduled appointment. Communicates with insurer’s case managers as required to ensure optimal treatment for employees/patients.  

    Demonstrates ability to communicate clear and accurate information.  Conducts all verbal and written communication in a professional manner.

    Schedules diagnostic testing and specialty referrals for employees/patients as requested by provider.  Obtains necessary authorizations from employer and their agents (insurer, utilization review, case manager).  Schedules appointments for employees/patients and notifies them with specific information regarding consultation and/or specialized testing.  Provides all pertinent information, including results of diagnostic testing, to the referred specialist prior to employee/patient’s visit.  Ensures that feedback is obtained for all referrals initiated and makes certain that findings are communicated to treating clinician.

    Completes documentation according to established standards.  Information regarding treatment authorizations, consultations, and referrals, telephone communication, missed or rescheduled appointments will be documented in the employee/patient medical record.  Participates in performance improvement activities as designated.

    Assists in maintaining the department records by performing secretarial and receptionist duties including processing and prioritizing mail and correspondence, processing phone calls, typing, and scheduling medical and administrative appointments.  Assists patients and department managers, etc., courteously and appropriately.  

    Performs other duties as assigned.
