Yard Jockey jobs in Rhode Island
Yard Jockey operates gasoline or diesel powered tractor trailer combination bringing trailers to loading docks to be unloaded. Backs trailer to loading docks, performs safety checks to secure trailer, opens bay doors, and assists dock workers in loading/unloading trailer. Being a Yard Jockey maintains radio or telephone contact with dispatcher to receive delivery or pick up instructions or to receive notice of changes in scheduled delivery or pick up. Typically requires a high school diploma. Additionally, Yard Jockey requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Yard Jockey works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Yard Jockey typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. Seasonal licensed lawn irrigation technician needed.
Expectations include:
- drive to locations to open and close irrigation systems (both residential and commercial).
- Repair, replace, and install irrigation heads, parts, drip lines, backflows, manifolds, valves, and controllers.
- Knowledge of wifi controllers a plus.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Comfortable using a map or gps.
**Some Saturdays required, especially during busy Spring start up and Fall closing seasons.**
No required, but additional skills we are looking for:
- Experience and knowledge of outdoor lighting repair and installation a plus
- plumbing, well, fountain and water feature experience a plus
- Bilingual a plus.
- Landscape/plant experience also a plus.
Rate of pay based on experience, licenses/certifications and skills.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 50 per week
